San Francisco is a great place to visit with lots to do -- but some are tourist traps and can be found in any city in the US.

This site is dedicated to visiting the Best of San Francisco from a local's perspective.

Here is a short list of the Top things to do and see in San Francisco:

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)
Located in a spectacular new building, SFMOMA offers the West Coast's most comprehensive collection of modern and contemporary art, shopping at the Museum Store and dining at Caffé Museo. Local Tip: First Tuesday of each month free; Thursday 6-8:45pm half-price.

Presidio of San Francisco
Formerly a military post, the Presidio is a national park and recreational paradise featuring spectacular vistas, meandering trails, and historic and architectural treasures.Entrance to the park and most programs are free. The park is open daily, year-round.

Alcatraz Cruise Tour
The exclusive cruise to Alcatraz Island, one of San Francisco's top visitor attraction, operated by the National Park Service. Cruises start at 9am and continue throughout the day. Ten to 14 daily departures depending on the time of year. Local Tip: Bring a jacket -- even on a sunny day. Once out on the water it tends to get cool.

San Francisco Vista Grande Helicopter Tour
On this 90 kilometer helicopter flight, you will see many of the well-known San Francisco Bay landmarks from the air such as the Ferry Building, Alcatraz Island, the Bay Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf and of course, the Golden Gate Bridge. Local Tip: On sunny days, rides often include trips UNDER the bridge.

San Francisco Waterfront Segway Tour
Enjoy Eco Friendly Touring!  Guests on Segway Tours enjoy riding an eco-friendly Segway, see more sights that they could cover on foot and have lots of fun. An added benefit for the environment is a few less tour buses on the streets of the city each day. Local Tip: This is the best way to see the waterfront -- otherwise its a long walk.
