Here as some of our favorite Parks and Hikes in or near the City by The Bay. Golden Gate Bridge Walk A wonderful 1.7 mile walk one-way on clear fog-free days (often found after winter storms or late fall days). Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and layered clothing. Pedestrians access is only allowed during daylight hours. (more info) Another option is to take a popular guided bike tour across the Bridge (and enjoy an optional Ferry ride back) (more info) The Presidio of San Francisco For 218 years, the Presidio served as an army post for three nations. World and local events, from military campaigns to the rise of aviation, from World Fairs to earthquakes, left their mark. Come enjoy the history and beauty of the Presidio. Explore centuries of architecture. Reflect in a national cemetery. Walk through an historic airfield, forests, or to beaches, and admire spectacular vistas.(more info) Fort Point National Historic Site Often overlooked and somewhat hidden Fort Point offers unique vantage points overlooking the spectacular Golden Gate. Fort Point protected San Francisco harbor from Confederate & foreign attack during & after the U.S. Civil War. Its beautifully arched casemates display the art of the master brick mason from the Civil War period.(more info) San Francisco Waterfront Walk Now that the Ferry Building has been restored, many visitors enjoy a walk between the Ferry Building and Pier39. The best parts of the walk are before and after Pier 39 -- not within it. There is also a free guided tour within the ferry building, offered at noon on Weekends and Tuesdays (more info) Another waterfront walk option is to take a Segway Tour -- which is very popular since the waterfront sidewalks are flat and very wide.
